Tax Credits For Solar Panel System Installations

To encourage investments in green energy, the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 extended the federal solar investment tax credit until 2032 and increased its total value.

This means property owners can earn up to a 30% tax credit on the total cost of a solar panel system, including equipment and installation fees. The credit is available for commercial and residential customers, including rental properties.

To be eligible for the ITC, the solar panel system must be:

  • Located in the U.S. or its territories
  • Placed in service between 2022 and 2033
  • Not leased to a tax-exempt entity
  • Less than 1 megawatt in size
